Counsel #21 — Path To Purity
Picture: Counsel #21 — Path to Purity CR 132.1
One of the ways the devil entraps young people is through the allure of ungodly pleasure. God designed sexual pleasure to be enjoyed within the boundaries of marriage, between a man and a woman. However, society has increasingly redefined pleasure as a means of control, power, and leisure, distorting God’s original intent. CR 132.2
Many parents give their children phones for communication, yet through these devices, the devil introduces perverse content that can capture young hearts and minds. Pornography, a billion-dollar industry, ensnares teens and young adults, often creating a stronghold before they even realize it. God calls His children to purity in thoughts, words, and actions, urging us to avoid lustful behaviors that lead away from His Kingdom. Don’t assume your child is not tempted by sexual impurity or pornography! Set limits on electronic use and monitor their social media activity, encouraging righteousness in their thoughts and actions.[126] CR 132.3
“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18 NIV CR 132.4
“It is necessary to guard the thoughts; to fence the soul about with the injunctions of God's Word; and to be very careful in every thought, word, and action not to be betrayed into sin.” Ellen White in Testimonies on Sexual Behavior, Adultery, and Divorce, p. 13 CR 132.5
Reflect: What can you do to help prevent your child from falling into the trap of sexual sin? CR 132.6
