9. What is the shared Biblical role of the husband and wife?

Both husband and wife should seek the good in the other and practice forgiveness (Matthew 6:14). Disappointment in the actions, words, or behavior of one’s spouse comes into virtually every marriage at some point. Both husband and wife have the role of reconciliation, bringing grace into the relationship and strengthening the fraying marital bond. JTL14 6.1

Other shared roles include lover, friend, companion, and partner which encompasses mutual respect, mutual forbearance, mutual submission, and mutual obligations such as nurture, comfort, support, and sexual fidelity. JTL14 6.2
