Sanctuary to Be Cleansed
At what time, according to the prophecy, was the sanctuary to be cleansed? BR-ASI9 155.4
“He said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.” Daniel 8:14. BR-ASI9 155.5
Note.—The Jewish Day of Atonement was on the tenth day of the seventh month, at which time the sanctuary was cleansed. This Day of Atonement was looked upon by the Jews as a day of judgment, and was, in fact, a type of the investigative judgment in heaven. The 2300-day period, representing 2300 years according to symbolic prophecy, reaches to the cleansing of the sanctuary in heaven, or the investigative judgment. A study of the symbols and time period of this chapter, and of their interpretation in this and the ninth chapter gives a clear understanding of this period. BR-ASI9 155.6
To what time did the angel say the vision belongs? BR-ASI9 155.7
“Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision. . . . And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.” Daniel 8:17-19. BR-ASI9 155.8
As Daniel saw the chosen people of God persecuted and scattered, as well as the desolation of the holy city and the sanctuary, how did it affect the prophet? BR-ASI9 155.9
“I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business.” Daniel 8:27. BR-ASI9 155.10
