Matthew 10

And when he had called (Mark 3:13; Mark 6:7; Luke 6:13; Luke 9:1) unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

Now the names (Mark 3:14; Luke 6:13; Acts 1:13) of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon (John 1:42) , who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, (Matthew 4:21; Matthew 20:20; Matthew 26:37; Mark 1:19; Mark 10:35) and John his brother;

Philip, and Bartholomew ; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed (Matthew 26:16; Mark 14:10; Luke 22:4; John 13:2) him.

These twelve Jesus sent (Mark 6:7; Luke 9:2) forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans (2 Kings 17:24; John 4:9; Acts 8:25) enter ye not:

But go rather to the lost sheep (Isaiah 53:6; Jeremiah 50:6; Jeremiah 50:17; Matthew 15:24; 1 Peter 2:25) of the house of Israel. (Matthew 15:24; Acts 3:26; Acts 13:46; Romans 11:1)

And as ye go, preach, (Luke 9:2) saying, The kingdom (Daniel 2:44; Matthew 3:2; Matthew 4:17; Matthew 4:23; Matthew 6:10; Matthew 12:28; Luke 10:9; Luke 11:20; Luke 21:31) of heaven is at hand.

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Provide (Mark 6:8; Luke 9:3) neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman (Deuteronomy 25:4; 1 Corinthians 9:9; 1 Timothy 5:18) is worthy of his meat.

And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; (Matthew 22:8; Acts 13:46) and there abide till ye go thence.

And when ye come into an house, salute it.

And if the house be worthy, let your peace (Luke 10:5) come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake (Mark 6:11; Luke 10:11; Acts 13:51; Acts 18:6) off the dust of your feet.

Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable (Matthew 11:22; Matthew 11:24) for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Behold, I send (Luke 10:3) you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise (Romans 16:19; 1 Corinthians 14:20; Ephesians 5:15) as serpents, and harmless as doves.

But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge (Mark 13:9; Acts 5:40) you in their synagogues;

And ye shall be brought before governors (Acts 12:1; Acts 24:10; Acts 25:6; Acts 25:23) and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: (Exodus 4:12; Jeremiah 1:7; Mark 13:11; Luke 12:11) for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit (2 Samuel 23:2; Acts 4:8; Acts 6:10; 2 Timothy 4:17) of your Father which speaketh in you.

And the brother (Micah 7:6; Matthew 10:35; Mark 13:12; Luke 12:53; Luke 21:16) shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

And ye shall be hated (Matthew 24:13; Mark 13:13; Luke 21:17) of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

But when they persecute you in this city, flee (Matthew 12:15; Matthew 14:13; Mark 3:7; Mark 6:32; Luke 9:10; John 6:1) ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. (Matthew 16:28; Mark 9:1; Luke 9:27)

The disciple (Luke 6:40; John 13:16; John 15:20) is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, (2 Kings 1:2; Matthew 9:34; Matthew 12:24; Mark 3:22; Luke 11:15) how much more shall they call them of his household?

Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, (Mark 4:22; Luke 8:17) that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 5:22; Matthew 5:29; Matthew 5:30; Matthew 18:9; Matthew 23:15; Matthew 23:33; Mark 9:43; Luke 12:5; James 3:6)

Are not two sparrows (Job 35:11; Job 38:41; Psalms 104:27; Matthew 6:26; Luke 12:24) sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

But the very hairs (Luke 21:18; Acts 27:34) of your head are all numbered.

Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Whosoever therefore shall confess (Luke 12:8; Romans 10:9; Revelation 3:5) me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

But whosoever shall deny (Mark 8:38; Luke 9:26; 2 Timothy 2:12) me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. (Luke 12:49)

For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter (Micah 7:6; Matthew 10:21; Mark 13:12; Luke 12:53; Luke 21:16) against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.Micah 7:6

And (Psalms 41:9; Psalms 55:12; Micah 7:6; John 13:18) a man's foes shall be they of his own household.Micah 7:6

He that loveth father (Luke 14:26) or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

And he that taketh not his cross, (Matthew 16:24; Mark 8:34; Luke 9:23) and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

He that findeth his life (Matthew 16:25; Luke 17:33; John 12:25) shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

He that receiveth (Luke 9:48; John 12:44; Galatians 4:14) you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

He that receiveth a prophet (1 Kings 17:10; 2 Kings 4:8) in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

And whosoever shall give (Matthew 18:5; Mark 9:41; Hebrews 6:10) to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
