THE SANCTUARY

“And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.” Daniel 8:14. BSA 11.2

The sanctuary is not the earth. Exodus 15:17; Leviticus 21:12. BSA 11.3

It is not Palestine. Joshua 24:26; Psalm 78:54. BSA 11.4

It is not the church. Daniel 8:13; Compare Daniel 9:26, with Matthew 16:18. BSA 11.5

It was built by the children of Israel. Exodus 25:8, 9; 36:1-7; 2 Chronicles 20:8. BSA 11.6

It was made after a pattern. Exodus 25:9, 40; 26:30; 27:8; Numbers 8:4; Acts 7:44; Hebrews 8:5. BSA 11.7

It had two apartments - the Holy and Most Holy. Exodus 26:33, 34; Leviticus 21:22, 23; Hebrews 9:1-7. BSA 11.8

The priests ministered in it. Exodus 28:41, 43; 29:30; 35:19; Leviticus 4:6, 7, 16, 17; 10:1-4; 16:2-19, 32, 33; 17:5, 6; 21:10-12; 24:2-4, 8, 9; Numbers 3:10, 27-32, 38; 5, 12, 15, 16; 18:1-5; 1 Kings 8:6-11; 2 Chronicles 26:16-20; Luke 1:8, 9; Hebrews 9:1-7; 13:11. BSA 11.9

It was cleansed with blood. Leviticus 16:15, 16, 18, 19, 32, 33; Exodus 29:36, 37; Ezekiel 45:18-20; Hebrews 9:22, 23. BSA 12.1

It was destroyed. Psalm 74:7; Daniel 9:26; [for fulfillment, see Josephus, Book VI, Chap.4, Sec.5.] BSA 12.2

That was the type, or figure of the Sanctuary of the New Covenant, which is in heaven, Hebrews 8:1-5; 9:23, 24; Psalm 102:19; Jeremiah 17:12. BSA 12.3

The heavenly Sanctuary is like the earthly in that, BSA 12.4

(1.) It has a service of priesthood. Hebrews 8:1-5; 9:24; 10:19-21; 6:19-20. BSA 12.5

(2.) It has two holy places. Hebrews 9:24; compare Exodus 26:31-35, with Revelation 1:12; 4:1, 2, 5; 11:19. BSA 12.6

(3.) It is cleansed. Daniel 8:14;1 (with blood:) Hebrews 9:11, 12, 23, 24. BSA 12.7

(4.) It contains the law, (covenant or testament.) Exodus 25:21, 22; 26:33, 34; 40:20, 21; 1 Kings 8:6-9; Hebrews 9:1-4; Revelation 11:19. BSA 12.8

(5.) When the glory of the Lord fills the tabernacle, or temple, there is no ministration. Exodus 40:34, 35; 1 Kings 8:10, 11; Revelation 15:8. BSA 12.9

The Most Holy Place was entered only on the day of atonement. Leviticus 16:2, 12-15, 29, 30; Hebrews 9:7; Revelation 11:19. BSA 13.1

Note:- Making the atonement, and cleansing the sanctuary are identical. BSA 13.2

That the covenant, or testament is the Ten Commandments, see Exodus 31:18; 32:15, 16; 34:28; Deuteronomy 4:13; 9:9-11; 10:4. BSA 13.3

From Revelation 15:8, we learn that when the plagues, threatened in the Third Angel’s Message, [Revelation 14:9-11,] and described in Chap. 16, are poured out, there will be no ministration: therefore they are “poured out without mixture,” as the mediation of Christ will then have ceased, and mercy will no more be offered to sinners.
