“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea;” and the new Jerusalem, the holy city, having already come down from God out of heaven, and being thus upon the earth, it is written: “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:3, 4. And thus is fulfilled the promise made of old: “For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. “And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. There “the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days.” And even “then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the Lord of hosts shall reign in Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before His ancients gloriously.” Isaiah 30:26; 24:23. There the people “shall be all righteous” (Isaiah 60:21), and “the wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing.” Isaiah 35:1, 2. BEST June 22, 1903, page 297.8
There the eyes of the blind shall have been opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped.
