Sanitarium, Calif., Sept. 8, 1911.
Dear Friend,
The annual conference and campmeeting of the Southern California Conference was held at Long Beach, August 7-20 (1911). There were 160 delegates present, representing forty-seven churches. The membership of the conference is about 3,000. LLM 582.2
After four days of conference work, the campmeeting proper continued ten days. There were 400 tents, occupied by about 1,600 people. LLM 582.3
There were many excellent speakers and teachers at the meeting, and the people were very faithful in their attendance at the meetings. The conference decided to take over the Paradise Valley Sanitarium. LLM 582.4
One day Eld. G. A. Irwin told the story of the Friedensau meeting, and the people subscribed nearly eleven thousand dollars for foreign missions. A few days before they had subscribed over five thousand dollars to the Negro work. The Sabbath School offerings were nine hundred dollars. During the meeting over twenty thousand dollars was raised for various lines of work. And of this seventeen thousand dollars goes outside of the conference. LLM 582.5
