Loma Linda Messages

Sanitarium, Calif., Oct. 26, 1905.
Mr. E. S. Ballenger, National. City, Calif.
Dear Brother:—
I think I wrote you briefly in answer to yours of October 16. Since then I have heard from Brother Robinson that you are out on the road hunting for funds with which to carry forward the building. I am praying earnestly that the Lord will guide you and that He will move upon the hearts of those who can help, to help just now. From a letter just written to Elder Haskell, I quote the following: LLM 136.1
“I have received your short letters of Oct. 13 and 19, and Mother has permitted me to read yours of Oct. 16 and Sister Haskell's of Oct. 17 and she has read to me a letter from Sister Haskell, received yesterday, stating that you are willing to give up some of your plans for work in the South in order to respond to Mother's appeal for help in Southern California. Sister Haskell says you will come by the Southern route, passing through Los Angeles, and you desire to know if Mother will meet you in Los Angeles about the middle of December. LLM 136.2
“Mother has promised to spend a portion of the winter in Southern California at Loma Linda, Los Angeles, San Diego, and probably other places will be visited. But Loma Linda is the greatest center for the work that is burdening her mind just now, and Mother will plan to meet you at Loma Linda the middle (232) of December if you will be able to carry out your present plans; and if anything should happen to enable you to come a few weeks earlier or detain you so that you could not come till a few weeks later, she will plan to meet you there about the time of your arrival. LLM 136.3
“For the sake of the work at Loma Linda it would be well that Mother and you met there as early as consistent. To Mother it will not matter much whether she goes South in December or in January. Whenever she goes, it will be a serious interruption to her work here, but this we must suffer for the sake of the work at Loma Linda.” LLM 136.4
In my last letter I neglected to mention our visit from Brother Wood. He came in to my house one evening and we had a long visit together. Then he came over to Mother's and spent much of the forenoon with her. He did not promise anything; he did not tell us that his money was in hand. He gave us to understand that he had sold some property, but must wait for the money. We did all we could to encourage him to come to San Diego and build up the work there. We had never met him before, but were favorably impressed. We pray that the Lord will guide. LLM 136.5
If you think best to come up here and spend a few days with us, it may be that we can plan out some correspondence to help to get some money in the East. We will do our very best to do what we can. LLM 137.1
Yours in haste,
W. C. White.
P.S. I do not know where you are and may send copies of this to two or three places. W. LLM 137.2
